Galena has the chemistry PbS, Lead Sulphide and is a member of the mineral class Sulphides, Galena group. Its structure is identical to that of Halite, NaCl with both minerals having the same crystal shapes, symmetry and cleavage. Galena may contain up to 1% silver in place of lead, and the large volume of Galena that is processed for lead produces enough Silver as a by product to make Galena the leading ore of Silver. Galena is one of the heaviest materials, having a specific gravity of 7.5+. The Roman naturalist Pliny used the name Galena to describe lead ore.
Crystal habits associated with Galena include the cube, octahedron (and combinations of the two), massive and granular. Sometimes Spinel Twinning occurs forming flattened crystals. Crystals are opaque, the lustre is metallic and the crystal system is isometric. The colour is light to dark grey, sometimes with a bluish tint. Minerals associated with Galena include Calcite, Dolomite, Sphalerite, Pyrite, Cerussite and Anglesite. Main locations for Galena include USA, Germany, Peru, Mexico, Zambia and England.

Andradite Garnet has the chemistry Ca3Fe2(SiO4)3, Calcium Iron Silicate and is a member of the mineral class Silicates, subclass Nesosilicates, Garnet group. It is the Calcium Iron Garnet and forms in contact, or regional, metamorphic environments, possibly from impure siliceous Limestones. Grossular Garnet, the Calcium Aluminum Garnet forms in a similar environment. Andradite is named after the Brazilian mineralogist J. B. de Andrada e Silva (1763-1838) and Demantoid is named after its adamantine lustre.
Andradite has varieties based on colour, Melanite is the black variety, Demantoid the green variety and Topazolite is the yellow variety. Crystals are transparent to translucent, lustre is vitreous and the crystal system is isometric.
Minerals associated with Andradite Garnet include Micas, Chlorite, Diopside and Serpentine. Well-known locations for this mineral include Ural Mountains in Russia, Italy, California and Arizona.

Grossular Garnet Healing Energies and Mineralogy

Grossular Garnet encourages taking a positive outlook and taking time for relaxation. It encourages self-confidence and positive ideas. Grossular Garnet fortifies the kidneys, is good for the skin and mucous membranes and is extremely beneficial against rheumatism and arthritis.

Grossular Garnet has the chemistry Ca3Al2(SiO4)3, Calcium Aluminum Silicate and is a member of the mineral class Silicates, subclass Nesosilicates, Garnet group. It forms in contact or regional metamorphic environments, which is similar to Andradite the Calcium Iron Garnet. It is one of the most colourful Garnets. Grossular is named from the Latin grossularia, meaning gooseberry.
In accord with other Garnets, Grossular forms rounded crystals with 12 rhombic or 24 trapezoidal faces or combinations of these, massive and granular. Crystals are transparent to translucent, lustre is vitreous and the colour may be colourless, yellow, orange, green, red, grey and black. The crystal system is isometric. A vibrant green variety is named Tsavorite, and Hessonite is a red variety. Hessonite is named from the Greek hesson, meaning slight, in reference to the smaller specific gravity.
Minerals associated with Grossular include Mica, Chlorite, Diopside, Calcite, Idocrase and Serpentine. Notable locations include Canada, Mexico, Kenya, Italy and Sri Lanka.

Hessonite (Grossular) Garnet Healing Energies

Hessonite Garnet enhances self-belief and courage during challenging times, which remain when the problem is resolved.
